Small textile 'markers' for communities healing from the impact of gun violence and other tragedies...
Description
The Healing Blanket Project is an ongoing community-based project of textile/visual artist, Kathryn Pannepacker in partnership with OPERATION: SAVE OUR CITY. These small shaggy textile pieces (knotted with yarns on chicken wire during workshops and rallies) are being installed/ 'zip-tied' /attached to outdoor area fences, polls or otherwise, in specific places throughout Philadelphia. Each piece is as a symbolic and literal 'touchstone' for communities healing- affected by gun violence and other sorrows. Family members and neighbors meet at 'the healing blanket' piece as they remember their loved one. Would you like a Healing Blanket piece? Please let us know.
